The Tahitian Pummelo stands apart from everyday citrus varieties. This tree produces large, smooth, greenish-yellow fruit with a rind that is thinner than most other pummelo varieties. Inside, the greenish-amber flesh is melting, juicy, and sweet with a balancing acidity, delivering a distinct flavor profile that ranks as a proven taste-test winner.
My Personal Take: Of the California pummelos, I especially like the flavor of the Tahitian. Several years ago, I conducted a taste test of many of the pummelos and pummelo hybrids then available in California, and the Tahitian Pummelo won the taste test by far.
