The Gold Nugget mandarin is a favorite among backyard growers for its exceptional sweetness and naturally seedless fruit. My Personal Take: This is one of my very favorite Mandarin orange varieties. In my yard in Northern California it performed very well, and I could let it hang on the tree and it would get sweeter and sweeter. Unlike many other mandarin varieties that decline in quality if left on the tree too long, the Gold Nugget improves well into the summer months. Even though the tree is very productive I think you'll find that the fruit doesn't last that long. It is so delicious that it gets eaten too soon.
